About 1001 Chairs

We rescue chairs. Then chairs rescue something bigger.

1001 Chairs began with a simple irritation: beautiful, useful furniture being thrown away as if craft, wood, history, and labour meant nothing.

So we are doing something practical. We find chairs and old furniture before they disappear into landfill. We learn how to restore them. We bring in friends who know wood, tools, upholstery, sanding, finishing, patience, and pride.

The long-term goal is bigger than selling furniture. We want young people to learn restoration skills, work alongside experienced tradespeople, earn some of the money from the pieces they help bring back, and help support the homes that support them.

A chair is a humble object. But it knows how to hold someone up. That is the whole point.
